Dale A. Miles, BA, DDS, MS, FRCD(C), Dip.
ABOM, Dip. ABOMR
Until recently, Dr. Miles was a Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ASDOH). He still holds an adjunct professorship in oral and maxillofacial radiology with the Arizona school. Previously he has been Chair of the Department of Oral Health Sciences at the University of Kentucky, the graduate program director of Diagnostic Sciences at Indiana University, and has held positions at the University of Connecticut and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and the American Board of Oral Medicine.
Dr. Miles received his Bachelor of Arts and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. After practicing dentistry for 6 years he attended the University of Texas where he attained his Certificate in Dental Diagnostic Sciences (1982), and Master of Science degree in Dental Diagnostic Sciences from the UTHSCSA Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in 1983. He was one of the first 2 graduates of the program.
Dr. Miles has been a test construction consultant for the National Dental Examining Board for the ADA. has been named as one of the “TOP CLINICANS IN CE” again for 2007 by Dentistry Today, an honor he held in 2005 and 2006. He has authored over 120 scientific articles and four textbooks, and has given over 350 invited presentations. Dr. Miles received the “Civism” award from the Department of the United States Navy in 2002. He also received the University of Western Ontario School of Dentistry “Alumni of Distinction” award in 2003.
Dr. Miles has been a consultant to many imaging and practice management companies including Dentrix, PracticeWorks and Eaglesoft, as well as digital x-ray companies like Kodak, Gendex, Suni Imaging, Planmeca and others. He is currently a contracted consultant for Planmeca USA. He has a web site for teaching dentists and auxiliaries about digital imaging at www.learndigital.net and has recently formed a new company in Fountain Hills, AZ called Digital Radiographic Solutions, providing radiographic interpretation to dental colleagues and radiology laboratory services who use Cone Beam CT machines.
