Description

The Department consists of two divisions: Oral Medicine and Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Each division consists of a Division Head and a group of faculty and staff.

 

The Division of Oral Medicine is responsible for managing the predoctoral and postdoctoral teaching program in oral diagnosis, oral medicine and treatment planning. Other instructional activities such as continuing education and elective courses are also sponsored.  The division also operates the Senior Care Clinic and is responsible for training in Geriatric Dentistry.

 

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology is responsible for managing the predoctoral and postdoctoral curriculum in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. The faculty and staff organize and manage  clinical radiographic services for the dental school. Continuing education and elective courses are also provided. The Division also oversees Forensic Odontology which is responsible for providing educational programs in forensics to predoctoral students, faculty, and the community at large, providing services to the Bexar County Medical Examiners Office in forensic identifications, and  the Center for Education and Research in Forensics Fellowship Program.
