The mission of the Department of Dental Diagnostic Science is to educate pre- and post-doctoral dental students, allied health students, preceptors, visiting professors, and dental and other health practitioners in oral diagnosis, oral medicine, oral and maxillofacial radiology, geriatric dentistry, forensic dentistry and infection control. The Department seeks to improve oral health in South Texas and beyond through 1) the provision of state-of-the-art professional services in physical diagnosis, oral diagnosis, oral medicine, treatment planning, radiology, geriatrics, forensic odontology, and infection control; 2) the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge in the field; and 3) service to the University, South Texas community, and the profession as a whole.
